Beloit ArtWalk 2013

Yes, it’s that time of year again! The Beloit, WI ArtWalk runs Friday May 10 from 5-9, and Saturday May 11 from 10-2. As always, I’ll be at The Villager Gallery and Frameworks, located at 429 E. Grand Avenue here in Beloit.

There are some 50 artists displaying work of all types at over 25 downtown Beloit businesses. There will be music and food at some venues, and fun for the family at all of them! A free trolley runs 5-10 Friday night between all parking areas and venues.

I’ll have everything from loose prints to gallery wraps on display and for sale, including the image below. If you’re in the area, stop in to say Hi – and of course, feel free to purchase some new artwork to beautify your home or office!

Northwoods Nature Photography on Display at Country Club of Beloit

My thanks to Amanda Barlass and the Country Club of Beloit for displaying some of my northwoods nature photography in the clubhouse at 2327 Riverside Drive here in Beloit, WI. I’ll have work there through at least December, and probably January as well. I’m not a member myself, so I don’t know what the rules are regarding dropping by the clubhouse to view artwork… :)  Here are a couple of snaps for those of you who can’t see them in person…

Wisconsin Landscape Photography on Display at Beloit Fine Arts Incubator

My thanks to the Beloit Fine Arts Incubator for including my work in their gallery for the month of November 2012. The BFAI has a really lovely gallery, and it’s always a pleasure to show work there. I hope to have some new work in their next juried show, coming up early next year.

Beloit ArtWalk 2012 – All Wrapped Up!

Well, another ArtWalk has come and gone. I haven’t seen any numbers, but my impression was that Friday evening was very well attended. Saturday was a bit slow, but then again it was a beautiful day and I’m sure people were out enjoying the weather. I got to meet and chat with art collectors, fellow photographers and other artists; I sold a couple of prints; and I even got my name in the paper! (Thanks, Charles McGuire and Shannon Lawrence, for visiting and mentioning me.) And thanks, as always, to Betsy Schmiechen of The Villager for hosting me and my photography.

If you couldn’t make ArtWalk, never fear – The Villager sells my work all year!

Now, let the countdown to Holidazzle begin!

Selected prints are now available at Art & Soul Tattoo and Gallery in New Glarus, Wisconsin, just in time for Memorial Day weekend! You can see a photo of their gallery below, and visit it in person at 412 Second Street, New Glarus, WI 53574; call 608.527.2727 to talk to the fine staff!

New Northwoods Nature Photography Shown at Beloit Holidazzle 2011 – Recap

Well, another Holidazzle has come and gone! I think we had a pretty good turnout this year, and people seemed to be enjoying themselves. After picking up my emergency caffeine supply at Nikki’s Cafe (which sadly is still not open 24×7, despite my repeated urging), I spent the evening at The Villager. Things got off to the usual slow start – most people don’t get off work in time to get downtown right at 5:00 – but picked up nicely after a short while. The weather cooperated this year; it was pretty chilly, but there was no rain or snow.

As always, I got to visit with some terrific people who stopped in, including a few high school classmates, fellow Camera Codgers and other photographers, nature lovers, and art lovers (with some overlap between categories, of course). I really shouldn’t be surprised by now at how many people know where tiny Mercer, WI is, yet I still am at each show or event!

Many people admired the new prints of my nature & landscape photography of the Northwoods of Wisconsin and Michigan, the Old Northwest Territory, and Alaska – always very pleasant to hear and much appreciated. Now I’m hoping some of those wonderful people come back to become collectors! :)

I want to thank Betsy and Tim Schmiechen and the rest of The Villager staff; they were terrific hosts, as always. I also want to thank Lloyd Smith of Nikki’s, who let me hang additional work there for the event. Thanks, too, to the Downtown Beloit Association for creating Holidazzle. And I especially want to thank everyone who came out for Holidazzle and made it the fun holiday event it always is!

If you were at Holidazzle, I’d love to hear from you – did you find any new artists, musicians, or craftspeople, or anything you especially liked? Please leave a comment below to let us know what you saw & what you thought of it!

Northwoods Nature Photography at Beloit Holidazzle 2011

In keeping with my tradition of the last few years, I’ll be at The Villager for Holidazzle, held this year on Friday, December 9 from 5:00 PM -9:00 PM. The Villager is at 429 East Grand Avenue, but Holidazzle includes over 40 locations in the Downtown Beloit, Wisconsin area with lots of art, crafts, and entertainment by a wide variety of artists. There’s free trolley transportation around the downtown, and Santa will be at the Turtle Creek Bookstore. There will be events for the kids, and holiday treats for all, so bring the entire family out for a free evening of food, fun, and art!

Most of my photos on display are from the Northwoods of Wisconsin and Michigan, but I’ll also be showing photos of Alaska, the Tetons, and the Old Northwest Territory (as the area around us in the upper Midwest used to be known). The Villager will also be hosting several other artists working in a variety of media.

I’ll have lots of new prints on display (and for sale!) this year, so please do stop in at The Villager to see my new work and say hi!
